FIRST IMPRESSIONS

» Visual

LORGE GRUFF MAN. Quite tall, broad, blond hair, blue eyes, heavy brow, just a little overweight. Usually always looking like he hasn't shaved in awhile and doesn't really care about his hair or overall health. If he's not playing stoic, he expresses broadly, almost cartoonishly, like he can't always school his features.

» Auditory

Sounds like David Harbour. Gruff, frank, and a little mumbly, a little growly. There's a tendency to do some extra vocalizations and speech irregularities like sniffs, grunts, stammers, pauses, repeating words, and lengthening of syllables. One immediately gets the sense he's rough around the edges.

» Scent

Cheap aftershave and cigarettes. The guy smokes liberally.

» Demeanor

Sometimes dramatic, sometimes low-key, but generally kind of intimidating and exasperated. He's brusque, confident, assertive, impatient and unrefined.

» Clothes

1980s semi-rural working class dude in his 40s. Casual and functional. There's a lot of flannel, a lot of thermal shirts, a lot of blue and brown jackets, denim jeans, brown workboots.

» Telepathic/Mental

Emotionally, mentally, there is a lot of inner pain and turmoil. Hopper's losses are always very present, but so is his desire to make the right decisions. His surface level anger is a cover for a lot of guilt, anguish, and shame.

» Magical

You will find nothing but a regular old human here, though maybe your character will be able to pick up the fact that he's traveled in and out of an alternate dimension a couple of times and it's stuck with him.

Hop never shies away from a fight, but he is only human and combat training was many, many moons ago.

He'll hate it, it'll be great. If you want more context, feel free to ask me and I can give you some background that'll make your character's insight more precise.

He'll hate this too but probably not as much as poking around in his head.

As a career cop, he's used to quite a lot. But talk callously about his late daughter and risk getting your fingers lopped off with a cigar cutter.

Hop's an angry guy, so odds of shades of antagonism are higher than average. There's some precedent for his being dismissive, rude, angry, or snide. HAVE FUN.
